Environmental cartoon and illustration workshop with Joseph Witchall. Watch live drawing demonstrations, create characters and stories, explore techniques, draw and let your imagination's run wild. Saturday 14 June 10.30 am – 12.30 pm Hartland Parish Hall, EX39 6BL. Guided Walk: Xenia - Meeting Our New Floral Neighbours. 

Join reconciliation ecologist and plant writer Pete Yeo for a guided amble around Hartland village contemplating Xenia, the ancient Greek notion of hospitality to strangers, as it applies to those plants that have leapt our garden fences and found a home in the wider landscape. Meet these new neighbours and hear the cultural and ecological stories that have led them here.

Earth book workshop - Making books for the Earth to write in

In this workshop we will be making small books, then painting and writing a message to the natural world using inks made from earth pigments and botanicals.

Poetry performance: Charlotte Faulconbridge 'Mad to be Normal'

Join Charlotte for a relaxed poetry reading in the Parish Hall cafe. 'Mad to be Normal' is the title of the final chapter of her first book 'Too High to Function'.

Charlotte Faulconbridge is an autistic and chronically ill prize-winning poet, #1 Amazon bestselling author, musician and TEDx speaker. She is an ambassador for the mental health charity MIND, was a finalist in the BBC Make A Difference Awards 2024, and in 2025 she was named one of the Big Issue’s top 100 Changemakers.
